Material-Specific Care
The stone may be hard—but the setting still needs care.
Diamond is very hard, but it can still chip at vulnerable edges under sharp impact. Clean gently and protect prongs, pavé settings and exposed corners.
Moissanite is suitable for regular wear, but oils and residue can reduce visible sparkle. Keep the stone and underside of the setting clean.
Precious metals can develop fine scratches from daily contact. Avoid abrasive polishing at home and request professional refinishing when needed.
Silver can tarnish and plated surfaces can wear over time. Avoid aggressive polishing and chemical exposure that may remove or damage the finish.
Special gemstone warning: not every gemstone or jewelry construction should be soaked, steamed or ultrasonically cleaned. If your Black Jack piece contains a delicate gemstone, coating, enamel, glued component or special finish, contact support before using an ultrasonic cleaner or professional steam-cleaning method.

Can I shower while wearing my Black Jack jewelry?
Removing jewelry before showering is the safer habit. Soap, shampoo, hard-water residue and repeated moisture can build up around settings and finishes over time.
Can I swim with diamond or moissanite jewelry?
It is better to remove jewelry before swimming. Chlorinated pools, hot tubs, salt water, impact and cold-water finger shrinkage can all create avoidable risk.
Can I use toothpaste or baking soda to clean jewelry?
Avoid abrasive household cleaning methods. Fine abrasive particles can scratch metal surfaces and may damage plated or specialty finishes.
Can I use an ultrasonic cleaner?
Not automatically. Ultrasonic cleaning may be unsuitable for some gemstones, pavé settings, loose stones, fracture-filled materials, coatings or special constructions. Confirm the piece first.
Why does my diamond look less sparkly after daily wear?
Skin oils, soap, lotion and everyday residue can collect on the stone and underneath the setting. Gentle cleaning often restores visible brilliance.
How should I store rings with diamonds?
Store them separately or in individual soft-lined compartments. Diamond can scratch other jewelry and jewelry metals can scratch one another during contact.
What should I do if a stone feels loose?
Stop wearing the jewelry and arrange inspection. Continuing to wear a ring, earring or pendant with a loose setting can result in the stone being lost.
Does normal scratching mean my jewelry is defective?
Fine surface wear can occur on precious metals during normal use. Manufacturing defects and ordinary wear are different issues, so contact Black Jack if you are unsure about the condition of a piece.
